Attention all metal heads

The second rendition of the Windhoek Metal Fest (WMF) will happen at the Warehouse Theatre in Windhoek on 12 July 2008.

The WMF  is the only international heavy metal mini-festival ever to be staged in Namibia. Organised by metal heads for metal heads, the event will take place on Saturday, 12 July at the Warehouse Theatre in Windhoek, Namibia.

Be prepared for a full-on metal assault by three South African and one local band covering a wide spectrum of sub-genres within the broader context of heavy metal music. This is what we have lined up for you at the WMF 2008:  Architecture of Aggression (Pretoria, SA), Mind Assault (Cape Town, SA), subMission (Namibia) and Azrail (Namibia/South Africa). We’ll have merchandise stands and a meet and greet party at Blitzkrieg Bunker Bar on the 11th of July. One thing's for sure: it's going to be heavy, loud ...... and a lot of fun.

Please come out in force again like you did last year and let’s shake the Warehouse to its foundation.

Architecture Of Aggression

Lauded as South Africa’s heaviest band, Architecture Of Aggression (A.O.A) consists of a three man demolition team and is highly regarded throughout the S.A metal community.

They are well respected for their musical prowess and technicality as well as a strong sense of groove and have influences ranging from death metal through to jazz and progressive rock!

A.O.A was formed by brothers Van(guitars/vocals) and Anton(drums/vocals) Alberts in 1995 and was joined in 2004 after several line-up changes by William Bishop(bass).

Monsters on stage, their live shows are famous and their mosh pits are legendary! Come see what all the Hype is about.... if you dare.

Mind Assault

In mid 2004, a team of four Capetonian musicians united under the banner of Mind Assault for the first time. Jacques, Francois, Donovan and Patrick were always and still are most passionate about playing metal music and enjoying the “family” atmosphere that is inherent within the metal scene. At the start of 2007 Andries joined Mind Assault and the band reached its present line-up. The band has gigged extensively and is renowned for energetic performances. Mind Assault has thus far released one EP, full length CD (Stigma) and  a DVD. Be prepared to be blown away from Metal from the Cape of Storms.

subMission

Hosting the WMF for the second time, subMission is a hard rocking 5-piece based in the Namibian capital Windhoek.
The band plays melodic power metal and has just released its 5-track Mini-CD "i mortal".
Most of the members have been active in the local metal scene for many years and are determined to keep the flame alive.

Azrail

Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Azrail are quickly becoming a household name with fans of extreme metal in the region.
Formed in 2006 the fivesome would find in their ranks a true understanding and brotherhood as all share the belief of the forging strength of Metal.
Some members being Namibians, the WMF 2008 should present a homecoming of a special kind for band and fans alike.
