Greetings

The Windhoek Metal Fest is an independently organised international mini-festival showcasing top class local, regional and international heavy metal and hard rock bands.

The WMF celebrates heavy metal and hard rock music in a multi cultural, open, free-spirited manner, whilst the organisors take extra care to secure that all standards of a professionally organized concert are being met.
The format of the WMF is unique to Africa and the reputation of the Fest has grown well beyond the Namibian borders.

The third rendition of the Windhoek Metal Fest (WMF) will happen at the Blitzkrieg Bar (Kallie Roodt Street, Northern Industrial Area) on Saturday, 27 June 2009.

As usual we’ll have merchandise stands, give-aways and a meet and greet party at Blitzkrieg Bunker Bar on the 26th of June. One thing's for sure: it's going to be heavy, loud ...... and a lot of fun.

Be prepared for a full-on metal assault by three South African and two local bands covering a wide spectrum of sub-genres within the broader context of heavy metal music. Delivering the goods will be:

Lady Axe

LadyAxe is a metal act with Goth influences, based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Fronted by Axe, who entered the metal scene as the first female heavy metal artist in South Africa, LadyAxe is the reincarnation of the band from the early 1990’s, but with a stronger presence. By some unplanned twist of fate, LadyAxe now features three female members…and they’re hungry!

 

Juggernaught

The word is derived from the Sanskrit word for "Lord of the universe" and is used to describe any unstoppable force that will crush all in its path.Juggernaught are a bunch of hairy, whiskey guzzling, guitar slingin men, who play hairy, whiskey guzzling, guitar slingin music, they combine Classic Rock, Southern Metal, Blues and Rock 'n Roll into one loud, dirty and very bad ass brew called MAN-ROCK.

subMission

Hosting the WMF for the third time, subMission is a hard rocking 5-piece based in the Namibian capital Windhoek. The band plays melodic power metal, which has attracted international attention. Most of the members have been active in the local metal scene for many years and are determined to keep the flame alive.

Also from Windhoek, these guys have made a name for themselves in the local scene through their entertaining live performances.
